GUAM-The Tourism Education Council has launched the Nihi Ta Sodda Y Proa Let's Go Find the Proa! Treasure Hunt Contest, and Proa Poster Contest. Since this is the year of the Proa, and in celebration of the completed Proa canoe recently built by the Tourism Education Council, we have decided to create a treasure hunt and poster contest for the youth of our island, said TEC chair Jackie Marati.Each participant must search for and create a list of proa signs, models, artwork, imprints, logos-even the actual proa-anywhere on Guam. The entry with the longest list of proas collected will be the winner. Lu Jia, a postgraduate student at the Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences of the University of Macau (UM) won the student poster award at the Seventh Meeting of Consortium for Globalization of Chinese Medicine (CGCM) held in Taiwan from August 27 to 30.According to a university statement released yesterday, the winning poster was prepared based on her Master s thesis titled Evaluation on Quality Consistency of Angelica sinensis (Danggui) and Ligusticum chuanxiong (Chuanxiong) Used in Clinics in China. Lu s research project performed qualitative and quantitative analysis of active components in Danggui and Chuanxiong collected from 58 provincial hospitals in China. With chemometric methods and mathematical statistics software, quality consistency of these two Chinese medicines used in clinics was comprehensively evaluated, according to the statement, which also added that the result is helpful to ensuring the safety and efficacy of medication
